Church History

A small group of 13 people met and prayed in the home of brother and sister Guy Olinger JR. on May 23 1984. The scripture was read by brother John Barber from Exodus 23:1-9, and sister Hazel Jones offered the prayer. This group was comprised of members who formerly belonged to Zion Baptist Church.
This small band has been meeting with Brother Olinger and was now joined by their former pastor, Rev L.V Booth.
Sister Evelyn Baskin, Brother John Barber, Brother Paul Booth, Sister Ellena Combs, Sister Myrtle Cunningham, Sister Mattie Jones, Sister Cleo Olinger, Sister Hazel Jones, Sister Euvie Rankin, Sister Ann Tate, Sister Lenora Filson, Rev. L.V Booth, Brother Guy Olinger Jr.
One of the many miracles that attend this group, was the privilege they received to worship in the Montgomery Road Church of Christ, on May 23, 1984, shortly after they became the Olivet Fellowship Group. On May 27th they held their first service in this well built edifice at 4:00pm.
Rev L.V Booth began early to emphasize the biblical precepts of “Love and Forgiveness,” which has become the cornerstone of the Church fellowship.
All the member who have united with Olivet are important, but it is hoped that the future christians will be encouraged by the 13 people who stepped forward with courage when courage was needed.
